Ode to Idra is a pictorial love letter to the small Greek island and its profound influence on me. The artwork also reminds us of the joyful feeling that emerges when we're elsewhere. Away from home, from our routine, travelling sparks something in us. Something unique and freeing. Idra was a gentle shock to my system. From the reverberating sound of church bells in the morning to the mesmerising colours of the sunset flawlessly concluding each day. Meeting new people, the sun's intensity bearing on your skin, and the freshness of the produce; all blended into a viscerally charged time. Upon leaving, the island gave me a generous hug. I left Idra with a renewed conviction in my artistry and myself.
This series seeks to encourage you to venture out. To be scared, but to still try new things and to meet new people. To be present in every moment and open to the experience. Once you genuinely immerse yourself, you become untethered, and a sense of self re-emerges. It is the most liberating feeling.
