Open Theme nominee

The images featured in this series are the latest iteration of larger principles at the core of my overarching artistic pursuits.
As a photographer, my main interests lie in the exploration of implicative aesthetics and sequencing, aimed at unveiling forms of encrypted, covert narrativity. Despite the degree of premeditation that the latter statement might suggest, the approach remains strictly situational. No concept is consciously abided by when gathering the material and circumstance elects the subjects. By perfecting this method over the years I found that what ends up emerging is a personal, inner and implicit iconography to be found at the basis of thought-process and decision-making, thus significantly yet covertly influencing the way one both self-defines and relates to their environment. The transposition of said iconography from the metaphysical realm of the mind to the physical one of the photograph is what I'm currently focusing on at the present stage of my practice.

I am 26 years old, born and raised in Italy. I first took an interest in imagery when I was 14 years old. Three years after that I was given the opportunity to move to the United States and spend my senior year in Chicago, IL, where I was first introduced to profoundly foreign environmental aesthetics and human realities.
After a brief stint as a business student in Germany, I moved to London, UK to enrol in a filmmaking program and pursue my artistic interests. This is where I first received some degree of formal training in lighting and image-capturing techniques, both analogue and digital.
In 2017 I decided to purchase a camera of my own and started experimenting with the still image, quickly falling in love with the degree of freedom which photography allowed me in comparison to its rigidly protocolled cousin, filmmaking.
