Don’t look up was born during my first trip to LA in May 2022. Even though I had a project in mind before flying, I thought of this one after spending two weeks in the city of fallen angels. I was shocked by the disparity between the rich areas, like Beverly Hills, and the poverty in some, like Downtown. I wanted to capture the juxtaposition that I had witnessed.
My first need was to capture a model that would embody the Hollywood Glamour, a lady that would not be affected by the constant sirens and drama in the city.
I kept observing until I found something that could inspire me. It was when I realized how many planes fly over the city that it hit me. I wondered how some citizens will react if there were ever a plane crash?
In the series, I imagined Claire, glamorous and aspirational, unconscious of what was happening around her.
This project represents my interpretation of LA and the disparity present in the city.
