For this new series I photographed the world of the Craftsmen. Hardworking people with an incredible passion and dedication for their work. People with knowledge and expertise which has developed and formed over many generations.
Could it be possible? An alternative in which these crafts provide a smaller scale world and products which are more sustainable, fairer, and healthier than those from the factories. It lets us look at and deal with the hyper economy in a different way.
While photographing, I became fascinated by the beauty and primitive art of these traditional jobs. At each location, I ended up in a different movie scene and took a step back in time. Hard-working characteristic men, climbing wings, crawling under locomotives, or strolling through the water.
As the wind howls through the building, the heat of the fire warms your cheek and the creaking wooden cylinders travels through the building, these men are doing everything they can to provide the most honest and high-quality product possible to their environment.
This series is therefore intended to enthuse the new generation about the old crafts in order to save this sector from extinction.

The images of the Dutch photographer are romanticized scenes in which individuals, cultures, stories or thoughts are elevated. At the same time, a critical note is taken at the acts of humanity and contemporary society. The images establish a symbolic relationship between form and content. The aesthetic beauty of the images creates a visual stimulus with an eye for composition, colour palette, interplay of lines and expressive eyes that invite you into the photographer’s created world.
