For this series, I photographed the world of craftsmen. Hardworking people with incredible passion and dedication to their work. People with knowledge and expertise which has developed and formed over many generations.
The crafts sector has enormous cultural, social, and environmental value to society. But with the rise of mass production, this sector is being threatened with extinction. A rapidly evaluating world with many problematic issues gives us the opportunity to make the right choices for a better future.
The traditional crafts can offer an alternative, that provide a smaller-scale world, with a sense of balance and calm and high-quality products with more symbolic values than those from the factory. By doing so, they make us look at the hyper-economy in a different way.
Therefore this series aims to enthuse the new generation about the traditional crafts in order to save them from extinction and help the world on its way to sustainability.

The images of the Dutch photographer are romanticized scenes in which individuals, cultures, stories or thoughts are elevated. At the same time, a critical note is taken at the acts of humanity and contemporary society. The images establish a symbolic relationship between form and content. The aesthetic beauty of the images creates a visual stimulus with an eye for composition, colour palette, interplay of lines and expressive eyes that invite you into the photographer’s created world.
