“Perception of the ephemeral architecture that is formed from the games of light and shadow that sometimes create a kaleidoscopic bias and suggest playful forms. It refers to the constructivist and surrealist thought. To think of a project from it, but in order not to run the risk of creating a series that is already born looking like a revision of something that had already been done; mix it with other images that suggest more plausible and not merely aesthetic narratives.
What we have in this kit is the silent observation of how a subtle light that infiltrates labyrinthinely between volumes, redesigns the landscape and the architecture thus creating an enveloping and enigmatic atmosphere; guiding the viewer of the image to a detained, unhurried look. Images that slow down the whirlwind of information of the contemporary world. It's like listening to the blues sipping small sips of brandy...".

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
Three decades has passed for Mario Baptista to hold a solo exhibition since he got his first camera. Although he lived among cameras for quite a long time, he only started to dedicate himself exclusively to photography in 2019. The outcome of this full immersion capturing images was known in 2021, when it opened, in São Paulo, “Cidade Errante” (Wandering City) exhibition. The exhibition is the result of his sensitive and refined look of the urban and human landscape of the metropolis and brings together 17 selected images under the curatorship of the journalist, photographer and critic Eder Chiodetto.
Since then, Mario Baptista has continued to produce new works and redefine his personal collection of previous photos together with curators who bring other perspectives on the artist's production. This development can be appreciated not only by his second solo exibihition, held on March 2022, on the well aclamed and prestigious fair, called ArtSampa 22 at Ibirapuera’s OCA museum, as well as on the curatorial essays: Dialogues...and what comes after; What we see, what sees us; Mediated Landscapes; Photosensitive Alchemy; Urban Imaginaries; and others. Baptista also has an intense activity with the social project, Feito Formiguinhas.
