Greenland is one of the least densely populated countries in the world, the wilderness stretches forever, it’s a raw place, life is tough for humans and animals, but the scenery takes your breath away.
These photos have been taken in Ilulissat, the sea was frozen so fishing was very difficult. To move around to the next villages, other than by boat (if the sea is not too frozen) or by helicopter, the only way is by dog sledge.
The Greenlandic sled dogs are considered to be strong and tough, they are not domesticated dogs like our pets.
Dog sledding is a way of life in Greenland and an important part of the cultural heritage.
