"Crystalotypes" is an ongoing series of handmade negatives that explores the intersection of art and science. Created through an alchemical process involving solutions of various substances and chemicals, each piece allows viewers to perceive the incredible intricate details within crystal formations that are typically concealed from the naked eye.
The series highlights the interconnectedness of all living things, illustrating how the microcosm mirrors the macrocosm. The forms initially appear to be cellular structures at first glance, but closer inspection reveals more: bejewelled landscapes that evoke imagery of aerial views of mountains and rivers, as well as the complex root systems of trees or the network of veins in our bodies.
By demonstrating the impossibility of our separate existence from nature, the series strives to bring viewers closer to the natural world and ultimately hopes to instil a deep appreciation for the environment within them.
