"Modern Monoliths" tells a visual story between two places that I hold dear, Lyon my birthplace and London where I settled to work.
These two ever-evolving locations are the witness of a striking clash between old-world charm and contemporary innovation. In this series, as I was travelling for a few days for a family reunion, I focused on the modern landmarks placed in the most accessible parts of these cities telling the urban story of a modern traveler.
1- La Part-Dieu Tower challenges Lyon's historical narrative with its audacious presence. It quickly became an icon of the city.
2/3- Bridging the geographical gap, the Saint-Exupery airport built as a bird taking flight is a notable architectural figure.
4-The Shard is UK's tallest building and placed in a cultural area in London near Borough Market and London Bridge. It's so high it touches the sky and the planes (maybe one coming from Lyon) fly close to it.
5-Back to work with the Walkie Talkie located in the busiest part of London, The City.
Amidst the clash of architectural eras, one thing remained certain: in Lyon and London, the modern monoliths will stand as enduring symbols of a city's ever-evolving spirit.
