Acerbumdulce (Latin: bittersweet).
Growing old is a bittersweet privilege, one denied to so many, but ageing is also accompanied by a multitude of emotional and physical changes.
Youth and beauty fade, old age envelops the wearer with a cloak of invisibility.
Acerbumdulce is a series of self-portraits using various techniques exploring these concepts and attempting to shrug off my own shrouds as I approach my 70th birthday.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
Judith is a Worcestershire based photographer with an interest in the preservation of photographic archives and their use in an artistic practice. We only see snippets of information when viewing any photograph, there is always a gap between what we see and what we truly know; this break in time is what makes snapshots unequalled. Photographs are static objects but their meaning constantly evolves, they are never anchored in time. Working with both contemporary and archival imagery Judith's interventions allow alternative dialogues to be imagined. She has a BA (Hons) Photography Degree (1st Class).
