Growing up in China's rapidly urbanizing and restrictive political environment, it has long been the artist's desire to find a way to 'escape' and cultivate a utopian realm in his mind.
Applying the principles of Taoism, meditation and Zen practice as guiding forces, the artists utilize photography, particularly in the field of fashion photography, as the primary medium for exploring their inner memories and longings. Through this creative process, the artist has created five installations based on the five things he remembers most from childhood,to construct a serene and childlike utopia, symbolizing a long-held dream.
In the broader context of contemporary Chinese society, this artistic endeavour assumes the role of countering the forces of control and restraint imposed on its people. The artist's intention is for the project as a whole to be a source of resilience and inspiration, enabling the viewer to liberate themselves from the shackles of powerful totalitarianism and embark on a journey of self-discovery and understanding.
For the artist, the project signifies both a profound journey of inner healing and a process of dismantling and reconstructing its inner framework, seeking to bring order to harmony from the depths of the soul.
