Armature (a space between a place and a non-place) (Series)
DESCRIPTION
The spatial installation presented here extends the exploration of the construction"Space between place and non-place." Through repeated visits, the initially unfamiliar environment became a source of contemplation, transforming into a space that felt oddly familiar despite its megalomaniacal nature. Intrigued by the unexpected sense of belonging in a space that swallows objects into its vastness, I questioned the factors influencing this familiarity. Contrary to the notion that artifacts or objects create a sense of place, I discovered that, for me, photography played a pivotal role in bridging the gap. Elevating photography as the protagonist, I connected it to memories of Sunday lunches at my grandparents' apartment, where my grandfather always captured moments with his camera. Experimenting with photography alongside concrete, a common but typically cold building material, allowed me to alter its established connotations. Through this process, concrete ceased to be merely functional and became a canvas for images, shedding its coldness and assumed insignificance. The assimilation of the space happened gradually through the lens of photography, ultimately leading to a deeper understanding of the place through repeated engagement and exploration.
