A look into the past
A past that will hopefully never become reality again! A past that should teach us all to be very careful with freedom and democracy. For many years, this freedom was taken for granted and I could never have imagined that the times of the Cold War would come back into focus.
With the war in the Ukraine, this past, which actually only exists in history books, has become frighteningly topical again.
The view of the old German border fortifications has cracked. Let's hope it stays with the cracks......
The series shows the remains of the German/German border fortifications, which still stand today along the old border lines as an open museum and memorial.
The photos were exposed on film with an analogue camera and then digitally processed.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
I started taking photographs about 25 years ago. Back then, I was still using an analogue camera and taught myself the basics of photography. I spent hours developing films and enlarging photos in my small darkroom in the basement. And I was always fascinated by how a photograph was created from white paper in a photo tray.
Today I'm 55 years old and I wouldn't want to be without the digital possibilities of photography. Merging old technology with the digital world is an exciting symbiosis.
I still think that an analogue photo has a completely different depth than a purely digital image. And despite all the possibilities in the digital world, we should not forget the old craft of PHOTOGRAPHY.
My motto is
To photograph is to see.
Seeing means observing.
Observing means having patience for a subject
Having patience means:
Considering all angles in order to develop extraordinary perspectives.
