DESCRIPTION
The shots I have chosen to share were all taken in winter. I am particularly drawn to this season's aesthetic, and the silence that is fused with it when I am taking solitary walks. Where I live, in Ottawa, Canada, snow had been generous to us up to this year. I find snow particularly beautiful when still pristine. It is a perfect backdrop for the stripped-down elements of nature in its resplendent graphic beauty. My focus in photography has been to reveal this wonderful gift and what I perceive as the essence of what appears in front of me. Without conceptualization, and by falling back on my intuition, I attempt to peel away the unnecessary while slowly scanning with my eyes and lens. I find there is often something immediate and spontaneous that occurs in moments of abandon and inner stillness, essential prerequisites of my photography.
These photos were taken within just a short radius around where I live.
