This series explores the place of humans within Nature, and our relationship to how we belong in our world.
I have created this work influenced by animism. Our history is filled with traditions of minerals invested of powers and used as talismans.
We think of humans and minerals in opposition, organic versus inorganic matter. However we can observe commonalities, such as slow growth and unique beauty of each individuals.
We ingest mineral as essential components to maintain life and health. In reverse, we give meanings, words, spiritual senses to minerals. As we do for living things, we love and care for them.
I take a favorable view of this exchange between human and minerals. I feel life in the stones and our symbiosis in nature, and want to honor this feeling.
The images of my series seem to be both the human bodies displaying crystals on their surfaces and the minerals taking in a human inside. They want to remind us an important part of what makes us a part of nature, and how nature is a part of us.
