To Bleed (Series)
DESCRIPTION
In June of 2022, the court decision of Roe v. Wade was overturned. As a woman and an artist, I found myself wanting to voice my grief and anger surrounding the discourse of my own, and millions of others, bodily autonomy. Using visuals inspired by the historical Salem Witch trials, I created a series depicting ritualistic bonds of feminine bodies and their deep connections to one another. Simply put, if you cut a body it will bleed.
AUTHOR
As a photographer, I aim to capture complex conversations in still images. I focus on fine art practices, and find myself driven to make work around topics such as identity, childhood, feminism, and sexuality. I find self-value through producing art that can spark important discussions about these topics, and therefore allow me to connect with my audience in personal and intimate ways. Currently, I am a full time student at Rhode Island School of Design studying fine art photography. After my graduation in 2024, I hope to be able to continue my photographic practice and keep these dialogues going.
My work has been featured in the Red Eye Gallery (2022 Providence, RI), Gelman Gallery (2023 Providence, RI), Dallas Center for Photography (2023 Dallas, TX), and Woods Gerry Gallery (2023 Providence, RI).
