The images are part of the ongoing series 'Places to be’, which is a photographic document about my process of finding places to be, to be able to hear myself clearly and come to a better understanding of me. My true me. It is the imprint of my journeys and my photographs as a document that help me to remember the importance of true silence as a sacred place to visit.
The photos were taken during a half year road trip through Morocco. I was overworked and decided to sell my business and make a career switch to photography. So I took off with my camera and camper van and started working on different bodies of work.
With my camper van I crossed the magnificent Atlas mountains 3 times and each time I was overwhelmed by the diversity and colours of the landscape.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
I am a self taught photographer with a past in architecture, design and specialty coffee. In 2022 I gave up my business life to focus completely on photography.
Key element in my work is silence. It is solitude in which I encounter my deepest desires, fears and questions. It allows me to grow personally and experience beauty in new and surprising ways. My camera facilitates my introspective journey.
In january '24 I started sending my work in to open calls, since then I was awarded with:
- Finalist place for The Independent Photographer B&W awards
- Selected for the International Group Exhibition 'Blurred Vision', Rome/Italy, Loosenart Gallery
- Part of the online Group Exhibition 'Colors' by Fstop-Magazine
Before I started my photography adventure I was owner of a studio for interior architecture and I was a teacher in retail Architecture at the Technical University of Delft/Holland.
With my company studiojosvandijk I designed store concepts for fashion brands worldwide. I had many publications, both online and offline and I won international design awards.
- American Architecture Prize 2016
- Iconic Award 2016
- German Design Award 2017
