During the 1850s to 1890s Lake George flourished with edible fish- the Murray cod. By 1902 however, a long drought caused the lake to completely dry out. Since this time the lake has experienced flooding rains from time to time, as well as commonly, long dry spells, during which it is used for livestock grazing. In 1956 a yachting accident in the lake resulted in hypothermia causing the death of five military cadets. Today the lake is full and a unique location to view moonrise over the wind turbines.

Tailai Obrien is an animal trainer with more than 20 years experience. Her eclectic collection of heritage livestock breeds and domestic pets feature regularly in her imaginative style of photography.
Tailai was recently recognised in several categories at the Tokyo International Foto Awards, The Australian Mono Awards and Australian Photographer of the year as well as winning the Federation Photo Award in the animals category in 2020.
