Ashes of a wake (Series)
DESCRIPTION
“Ashes of wake” is raw and ambitious photographic series conceived by photographer, Lujean Burger, and model, Nirvanique.
The series was documented on a small holding named Nirvana, situated on the outskirts of Cape Town, South Africa, which forms part of a nature reserve. The landscape is covered in flora native to the western coast of South Africa forming the perfect backdrop for the series.
Lujean and Nirvanique have been working together for several years on numerous projects in a photographer / model partnership. Their like minded passion for their individual crafts formulated a series of portraits that can best be described as bold, raw, and emotional.
Ash was used to create the dramatic textures for the series.
AUTHOR
I started my journey with photography 9 years ago. My goal had always been to create unique art and due to the fact that he was not blessed with the talent to draw or paint I opted for photography as my medium. With time I have created a unique portfolio of fine art images of very wide variety. A photo is not just a photo for me, it must be art.
I have had several of my works displayed in two art galleries in Cape Town.
Awards include:
Silver award in the Admired in Africa photography awards in the 2019 fine art category.
Top 10: Africa Photo Awards fashion category in 2020.
Top 10 of the Africa Photo Awards in Abstract, Conceptual, and Editorial in categories in 2021.
Published in Model Society Magazine addition 15 in 2022.
Top 10 of the Africa Photo Awards in Abstract, Conceptual, and Fashion categories in 2022.
I reside in Cape Town, South Africa, with my wife, Bianca, and our dogs and cats.
