AUTHOR
Monique Belier (1971) is a Dutch photographer and visual artist based in the Netherlands. She studied photography at the Fotoacademie in Amsterdam and graduated in May 2023.
Since then, her work has been exhibited in national and international festivals and exhibitions, such as Haute Photographie in Amsterdam (GUP Exhibition for Fresh Eyes Talents); OFF Bratislava photo festival in Bratislava; Polycopies Book Fair in Paris; Gallery Calabro in Zurich; Unseen book fair in Amsterdam.
Her work revolves around the themes of movement, body language, and how we can use our bodies to convey our emotions.
Her photo-artist book titled ‘Where the Spirit Meets the Bone,’ has found its way to readers and bookshops around the world, including Photography Museum Huis Marseille and Foam in Amsterdam; Tipi Bookshop in Brussels; Photobook Corner in Lisbon; Maria Inc in Barcelona; Le Ball in Paris, and more.
Her work has also obtained prizes and awards, such as Fresh Eyes International Talent; Honorable mention at Monochrome Awards; IPA, official selection in the International Photography Awards, and she is also selected by Origini Edizioni for their Master Program.
