DESCRIPTION
In January 2022, the coasts of Ventanilla, Peru, were shaken by an oil spill by Repsol, the company responsible. which dumped around 11,900 barrels of crude oil into the sea, affecting approximately 1,187 km² of sea and 1,740 km² of beach strip. The consequences were felt on numerous coastal beaches, leaving a trail of destruction in their path. Marine flora and fauna suffered the consequences, while cleanup and restoration efforts intensified. The tragedy generated a national and international response in the fight for the recovery of these affected areas.
