Photomanipulation nominee

First I have to say that the photograph is a self-portraitait and it is digitally edited using Adobe Photoshop (the effect is created by composing several photos of the author). I was inspired by today's (I guess I can say dark) times to create this photo. I was mainly inspired by the situation in Ukraine, but not only that, the photo is supposed to be anti-war in general. As the name suggests, the photograph represents a fall into darkness, because war always plunges us into darkness. So, a character dressed in a military uniform and wearing a gas mask (which refer to war) falls into the darkness. The figure is blurred at the bottom, suggesting that it is being dragged into darkness, but there is still a ray of light above, meant to represent hope. I also included in the photo another reference to hope, hope for life – the reflection of a butterfly in the eye of the mask. Therefore, the photograph does not only depict decay, darkness, but also hope.
