The Assy Plateau in Kazakhstan is a place of quiet and tradition, where the nomadic lifestyle has been maintained for thousands of years. It's an area where the simplicity of life is evident in the summer movements of shepherds and their herds to the high pastures. The plateau, with its vast grasslands and panoramic views, provides a setting where the daily activities of the nomads carry on at a measured pace. Modern touches like electricity have made their way into some yurts, yet the sense of peace on the plateau remains largely undisturbed. Here, visitors can observe a way of life that has adapted to modern needs while retaining its connection to the past and the land.
While travelling across Kazachstan with my sister and father, we decided to stay at one of the camps located in the plateau. The sense of calmness and serenity of the place is something that is difficult to put into words. The pictures show the Nomads and their herds, whilst also putting it in scale of this majestic place.
