DESCRIPTION
The Sea is unique enough to have inspired the finest poems and pieces of art throughout history. This does not only apply to the act of sailing like in Homer’s Odyssey, but even to the fact of living with an eye on the sea, which means having a specific mindset moulded by space, by waves and by seagull’s voice, just think of Joyce’s Dubliners.
This uniqueness arises also in peculiar architecture structures or simple shapes which belong to the Sea and the Sea alone, till the extent that when we see them in a postcard we can feel the breeze and smell the sent of the Sea.
The Sea then is one of those places which become themselves an inner matter, to the point that you don't know whether you are looking outside or projecting what you are feeling inside. This project is a tribute to the evocative power of the Sea’s shapes, colors and mood.
AUTHOR
Floriana Avellino is a chameleonic photographer from Monza, Northern Italy. Being naturally allergic to labels Floriana is really inspired by any photographic genre considering each genre not so much a way of capturing reality but of interpreting and sharing a personal vision of it in a specific moment or situation. In that process the observer mixes up with their subject of observation and there she sees a chance to build a bridge towards the outer world and other human beings meeting them in what we all have got in common, inner emotions, hopes and fears.
All along her lively activity Floriana received recognition at several international awards, such as Chromatic, Creative, Fine Art, Minimalist, Monovision and the International Photography Awards.
Her work has been exhibited during several events such as the Art Shopping Fair 2023 at Carrousel du Louvre - Paris, the International Prize for Contemporary Art at Steiner Gallery - Vienna 2023; Venicephotolab 2022, LoosenArt Minimalist exhibition and Salerno Art Festival in 2022, the street Photography exhibition held by the Glasgow Gallery of Photography and the collective contemporary photography exhibition held by Margutta Gallery in Rome in 2023.
