This project originated from the look in my grandmother’s eyes during the memorial service when she saw the photo of my grandfather who had passed away for many years, and the look in her eyes made me feel a long-lasting longing. Until then, I had always thought that time would diminish the sadness and longing one feels when facing the dead, but it was only in that moment that I realised that longing, like the fire burning in the pot during the memorial service, is dying every second and growing every second.
Taking my grandmother’s feelings for my deceased grandfather as the main axis, I used objects of special significance to infiltrate my unspoken, long-flowing thoughts and love, scattering them in familiar living environments to complete a subtle yet explicit ritual of paying homage.
