Flashpoints (Series)
DESCRIPTION
Flashpoints are any splinters that stick into my consciousness and memories that force me to react. Formally, it is a series of analog sandwiches using a large format camera and ingerence in structure emulsion.
The series I titled Flashpoints could potentially look like a collection of random images. However, it is a set of flash points that trigger my reaction. Sometimes the reaction is limited to taking a photo, but often it forces me to take deeper actions, enter the structure of the image, and physically intervene.
Photography has always been medicine for me, it has soothing, healing and anti-inflammatory effects. I want to believe that taking photos makes sense. It certainly helps me deal with inflammation and the pollutants that cause it.
When I started working on this series, I captured the images that were gathering under my eyelids. Then the main problem areas became visible to me:
It is the past, what is distant and close, and its impact on identity.
Fears and anxieties
The past and passing.
Longing.
Detachment from nature.
Aggression.
War.
Disease.
And most importantly: Relationships.
