Fashion nominee

This series of photographs was created in September of 2020-a time of uncertainty, but also a time of discovery of the new normal. People were interacting with one another more, and we were all trying to find our joy again. My model Aimee had lost her mother seven months prior and was learning to exist in a world without her while also starting college and living through a Pandemic. She recalls the photo shoot as sort of a vacation from all the difficult things going on. Coincidentally, my mother had passed not long after Aimee's. Neither of us were in a great place. Because of the Pandemic, I had traded in my creative photography adventures for playing it safe; but after spending months socially distancing, I decided to approach Aimee about modeling. It was such a fantastic release-a much needed experience, emotional even. We wanted a unique environment, as strange as the times we were living in, something almost otherworldly, and we found it. It was quite a memorable afternoon. We understood each other’s energy and vision and because of that, we continue to work together; this was the first of several times Aimee has modeled for me.
