Flowers have long been a symbol of beauty and perfection, but what happens when that beauty fades and the petals begin to wither and decay? Through my photography, I seek to capture the fleeting moments of transformation as the organic matter of the flower structure breaks down and transforms into something new.
This projekt ist a hommage to granny.
My granny lived in the countryside and raised flowers for sale. They were usually tulips, daffodils, peonies and dahlias. I used to visit her a lot as a kid and remember very well the long dark cool corridor with buckets of flowers. It always smelled of old wood and flowers. That’s probably why I love working with flowers, they remind me of that happy time. If my grandma were alive, I know exactly what souvenir I would bring her from Amsterdam.
