Captured in 830nm near infrared, I spotted this butte in the distance and set out to find it, hoping to frame it with the moon that was quickly rising. Having chosen my roads well, I composed and began capturing images.
The day had been completely clear, but as I was preparing to leave, a few small clouds began forming behind me. The clouds cast the scene in shade until, for a moment, only the top of the butte was illuminated, pointing to our nearest heavenly neighbor, representative of the primordial relationship between our planet and its moon
