SUPERPOSITIONS (Series)
DESCRIPTION
These photographs are cyanotypes reproductions I made on early 20th century topographical maps. The original photos are Swiss winter landscapes.
By superposing classical cartography with the old cyanotype process, I create something new and autonomous that liberates and reinterprets our vision of the proximity of photography and the large scale of cartography.
My work also shows the massive changes to the landscape caused by urbanisation and the retreat of glaciers in Switzerland.
It's also a way of preserving maps in a world living in the digital age.
AUTHOR
Architecture and portraits are my favorite subjects. I find my balance between these two totally opposed views.
Fascinated by the evolution of photographic techniques such as: silver, cyanotype, collodion process, I do not hesitate to combine old and modern techniques.
I grew up in France, I currently live in Switzerland where I work as a photographer.
