A vivarium is a small facility for keeping terrestrial and aquatic animals. It is also used for the breeding and care of living, mostly cold-blooded animals in aquariums, terrariums or paludariums.
The Vivarium humanicum ingens consists of 36 glass segments (2.20m x 3.00m) surrounding a dormitory. The glass segments are arranged in such a way that they keep the bushes growing uninhibitedly behind them in check towards the street and at the same time this combination turns outwards like a fortress. Roots grow upwards, the glass is maltreated by the plants, weather conditions and people who leave their mark on it. The people living behind this naturally constructed wall cannot be seen, disappearing into the thicket of the vivarium wall.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
While the unremarkable often becomes the subject of contemplation in my work, I try to direct the eye and mind beyond the obvious. I work documentarily or interpretatively, whereby my photographs reflect true nature or the abstract, the seen or the experienced, appear in color or black and white and the image is processed during or after the shooting, camera and computer are working tools similar to a painter's brush or sculptor's chisel; thus, beyond the pure shooting process, a work of art is deliberately created - painting with light, shadow, shapes and colors. Photography is my form of artistic expression.
