In this image, I aim to photograph the essence of classical ballet, focusing only on the human form without external embellishments.
My interest was in the precise moment when the entirety of a dancer’s weight, delicately balances on a small fraction of the body.
The photograph was made using a large format camera.
This choice reflects an intentional parallel between the art of photography and the performance of a ballet dancer, drawing a metaphorical connection to the singular opportunity presented when the theatre curtains open.
