Our planet's water is a substance in constant change, whether it be in the form of rain, snow, rivers, clouds or steam. However, some water has been locked away as ice for tens of thousands of years. Each year a proportion of this ancient fresh water is cast off into the seas and oceans as icebergs. Every iceberg is individually sculpted by nature, each one a unique art form with its magnificence changing from every angle. I had the opportunity to photograph this ancient ice in various locations across the Arctic Ocean. Whether observed by ship or from the ever-moving floe ice that temporarily traps it in position, every iceberg wants to tell a story.
For something that has spent 10,000 years hidden from view and being sculpted by nature, it is ironic that its visible beauty is so relatively short-lived. It is even more frustrating that access to one of nature's most spectacular art shows is so remote, seeing a single iceberg with the naked eye is like access to Nature's VIP gallery space
