This series of photos was taken during the eruption of “Piton Tikal” which took place between September 19 and October 5, 2022.
The Piton de la Fournaise is located on the island of Reunion, in the Indian Ocean.
Its summit peaks at 2632 meters and he is one of the most active volcano on the planet. More than 250 eruptions observed since the human occupation of the island in the middle of the 17th century.
Around 500,000 years old, the volcano massif occupies almost 1/3 of the surface of Reunion and he is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.
The Piton de la Fournaise is my favorite subject and my favorite playground. I have been lucky enough to be able to observe around forty eruptions since 1998.
Taking these photos most often requires walking many hours on difficult and uneven terrain outside of marked trails. The danger is real and present, access to the volcano during eruptive periods is prohibited.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
I’m a professional photographer living in Reunion Island and discovered landscape photography at 18 years old. Landscape is my passion and Reunion is my primary photographic playground. I love to trek in the mountains or go to the volcano when he is on eruption. With my Nikon camera I have visited 22 countries and now try to share these instants. I’m also working as professional skipper on sailing boats and organize expeditions at sea to raise awareness about the problem of plastic in the oceans.
