I have been shooting nudes in the landscape for a number of years and was always interested in the personalities of the diverse models I worked with. Many of them travelled around the world making their living posing for photographers. They all had stories about their experiences, some good, some bad. I decided I wanted to create some strong and beautiful portraits of these wonderfully independent people.
At the same time, I felt that I was missing something with digital photography and wanted to return to analogue for this personal work. Working in the Wet Plate Collodion technique, which had also became a passion for me, would be wonderful medium to shoot some beautiful, intimate and different portraits of my models.
The process can be difficult, unpredictable and smelly but it can produce the most beautiful results when it works well. The models enjoy the slow approach to making images, which is very different to what they often experience with digital photography. I feel it brings out the true personality and character of the models, which is what I search for in this ongoing project.
