Open Theme nominee

I am an artist and photographer who examines the concealed links between individuals and their identities. Collage and photography are employed to produce images that encourage the viewer to delve deeper and envision the tales behind the faces. The work reflects my personal history and present, as well as my fascination with the unobservable connections that run through our lives.
The image It’s Complicated is inspired by the concept of the red thread of fate, which is a belief that certain individuals are destined to meet and influence each other, symbolizing an invisible force that binds them together. The button and the needle create a sense of mystery and curiosity, leaving only their clothes and hairstyles to hint at their identities. They could be lovers who were separated by fate or even strangers who share a secret.

Gemma Pepper is a British artist and photographer living in Switzerland. She studied photography at Llandrillo College, Rhos-on-Sea, North Wales, Great Britain and at the University of Derby, England, Great Britain. She also graduated with a Master of Arts ZFH in Art Education, with a Specialization in Curatorial Studies at the Zurich University of the Arts, Switzerland in 2021. Her analogue collages and fine art photographs have been presented and published internationally and are held in private and public collections. In her work practice, she seeks to suspend and transcend time and space, always searching for the connection between the past and the present.
