These photos are just a few of a series of horse portraits in this category. The horse, the most majestic and graceful animal I know. The greatest mirror of the soul.
As a professional horse photographer, I mainly make regular horse portraits, but I find it the art to photograph them in a way that people don't expect.
The details that are just lightened by a ray of sunlight, a curve of the neckline, a piece of fur, the wrinkles at the chin during a bend, that is for me the ultimate and most satisfying way of photography and shows that every piece of horse is unique.

My name is Shirley van Lieshout, living in the Netherlands, 43 years old, married and I have 2 gorgeous daughters. I am a professional photographer since 2020 and specialised in portrait photography of families and kids but also horse photography.
I received several awards at the 'Portrait Photo Awards' and I can call myself a 'Grand member' now which I am very, very grateful for. It is a privilage and a great reward and acknowledgment for the hard work to receive these awards. Because I am focusing more and more on the Fine Art part of the horse photography I registered myself for the 'Fine Art Photo awards'. I already looked at all the great nominations and winners, what great work and pieces of art! Looking forward to see more of that.
