DESCRIPTION
“Blue Skies, Brown Earth, Green Leaves” contemplates the infinite and cyclical nature of beauty and being. The image is an overlay of two photographs—one of a rusted iron plate, the other of an old wall with chipped green paint. The elements within the composition have been transformed, their textures and forms manipulated to more fully express the protean nature of their being. In their decay and renewal, they echo the ever-changing nature and beauty of all things.
AUTHOR
Sam Rittenberg lives and works in New York City and the Dominican Republic. His primary interest is in the ability of a photograph to express the infinite and paradoxical interplay of destruction and creation. He is guided by the idea that every picture has the potential to be a portal to that which is ordinarily beyond us. Twenty of Mr. Rittenberg’s works have been recognized in international competitions, including the Annual Photography Awards, Chromatic Awards, Fine Arts Photography Awards, International Photo Awards, Neutral Density Awards, Refocus Awards - World Photo Annual, and the Tokyo International Foto Awards.
