DESCRIPTION
“Blue Skies, Brown Earth, Green Leaves” contemplates the infinite and cyclical nature of beauty and being. The image is an overlay of two photographs—one of a rusted iron plate, the other of an old wall with chipped green paint. The elements within the composition have been transformed, their textures and forms manipulated to more fully express the protean nature of their being. In their decay and renewal, they echo the ever-changing nature and beauty of all things.
AUTHOR
Sam Rittenberg is a New York and Dominican Republic based photographer whose work explores the paradoxical nature of existence. His work expresses his belief that by capturing the infinite within the ordinary, a photograph can serve as a portal to that which is ordinarily beyond us. His work has been frequently recognized by juried international competitions, including the Prix de la Photographie Paris (PX3), the Fine Art Photography Awards, the International Photo Awards (IPA), and the Refocus World Photo Annual.
