Mystical Prague (Series)
DESCRIPTION
A series of black-and-white photographs, created using a pinhole technique (a camera with hand-crafted overlays), presents an extraordinary visual narrative of Prague, portrayed in a mysterious and almost dreamlike atmosphere. Developed as part of a master’s degree project at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, this project is an integral part of a guide to Prague, leading through the city’s ghosts and legends.
Each photograph captures the city’s unique character, reflecting its rich tradition of tales about apparitions, spirits, and extraordinary figures. In these works, Prague is depicted as a space balancing on the edge of reality and dream—a city filled with hidden alleys and enigmatic places that seem to whisper forgotten stories.
The purpose of the series is not only to showcase fragments of Prague but also to invite the viewer to delve into its deeper, intangible layers. The photographs encourage reflection on the city’s history, emphasizing that the ghosts of the past still linger in its nooks and crannies, etched into its architecture and atmosphere.
AUTHOR
I am a graphic designer with proficiency in various aspects of design. I have a deep appreciation for both digial and traditional design methods and I constantly strive to broaden my horizons.
Apart from my graphic design work, I have a deep passion for pinhole photography, an artistic practice that lets me explore the mystical and fleeting aspects of the world. I create images that capture my fascination with light, time, and the hidden beauty of everyday life. My pinhole photography work is closely connected to my design background, and I enjoy experimenting with this analog technique to create timeless, dreamlike visuals.
