I am fascinated by the power of our imagination. Our experiences, stories that we've heard, dreams that we've had, they all come together to fill in the blanks.
Pirouettes is a celebration of the subconscious, allowing it to take over and fill in the space left through the removal of all detail in the scene.
My wish is that each person viewing this work allows their subconscious to take over, transporting them to a world that isn't really there.
The images capture an entire 360° scene through controlled intentional camera movement, removing all detail and leaving just the light, shadow and colour palette of the scene.

DESCRIPTION
AUTHOR
Mark's journey into photography began in his childhood countryside, where he often took woodland walks with a camera to capture flora and fauna. His hobby developed into a passion for macro photography, revealing intricate details of flowers and insects.
During his formative years, Mark explored various genres such as landscape, nature, wildlife, sports, and automotive photography. A significant career advancement occurred when he worked as a photographer on cruise ships, overcoming his hesitation towards portraiture. The feedback from subjects and mentorship enhanced his understanding of composition, lighting, and presentation.
The 2020 lockdown was pivotal for Mark, leading him to discover abstract photography. Isolated in his studio flat near London, he experimented with light, shadow, and controlled camera movements. His project "Light in the Dark" gained international recognition in 2021 with a nomination for the Fine Art Photography Awards.
In 2024, Mark started exhibiting his “Pirouettes” project, featuring controlled camera movement, in galleries. His work has been showcased in the Summer City Idyll and New York, I Love You exhibitions at the Agora Gallery in New York's Chelsea district.
