All the major cities in the world have emblematic architectural elements that constitute the visual signature of a city or a place. These "signature constructions" are typically composed of imposing infrastructures such as skyscrapers, monuments, public squares, bridges, and more. Besides these classics, certain intriguing architectural elements can also be regarded as emblematic and contribute to the visual identity of a city.
The "Montreal curiosities" series presents five photographs that aim to explore the world of original and iconic structures in Montreal beyond the beaten path: 1) Water Tower / "Guaranteed Pure Milk," 2) Sculpture / Alexander Calder Stabile "Three Disks", 3) Square-Victoria subway station / the only original "Guimard Entrance" outside Paris, 4) Peel Basin and the industrial sign "Farine Five Roses," and 5) Fast food restaurant / "Guibeau Orange Julep".
