Me without the I (Single)
DESCRIPTION
This photo is part of a project I did about burn-out and feelings of depression. A very invisible but omnipresent challenge our societies face these days. It's a subjective visualization of the experience that seeks to resonate with different people who have experienced similar challenges. It's about isolation and the longing to connect, invisibility and wanting to be seen and the larger theme of trying to find ones place in society (again).
AUTHOR
Dear reader,
My name is Sophia Thirza van Tol, I'm a 33 years old dutchie living in The Hague. As a beginning portrait photographer with a masters degree in Philosophy, I'm drawn towards the bigger themes of what it means to be human, to exist in a world with others and how to navigate social constructs. In my photography I try to combine personal experience with these larger social themes, to express at the same time a subjective view and to find a common place with the viewerin which they can embrace their vulnerability and share experiences.
