As children, we often had very active curiosity and imagination, which allowed us to enjoy even the simplest things, like finding shapes in clouds, making shadow shapes on the wall with our hands, and playing pretend.
As adults, many of us may have found that our lives have turned monotonous: living as though every day is the same day, going through routine, getting through work or school, not really paying attention to simple things in the world around us. Those simple entertainments that gave us joy as children are often forgotten as we become adults. The clouds in the sky are just clouds and the shadows on the wall are mere shadows.
Beyond the Light is about reconnecting with the inner child we had forgotten and left behind in the past as we grew up. By rekindling our child-like imagination, we can challenge ourselves to change our perspective and view these ordinary spaces and objects as something extraordinary, dream-like, and fantastical. We can come to take notice and appreciate our environment and the simpler joys it can provide, and it’s the accumulation of the tiny enjoyments that we can bring happiness and fun into our lives.
