In this work, I created a virtual persona named Anna—not assigned a specific name, but existing only as a series of numbers and commands. This virtual figure, generated by AI algorithms, appears hazy, ambiguous, and incomplete, yet within it, I search for meaning shaped by AI. The figure embodies the unease we feel toward AI, as well as the thrill of creation that comes with being its maker. Through countless science fiction films, we have rehearsed our mixed emotions of curiosity, anticipation, and anxiety about the future. This work reflects the contemporary trend of blurring lines between technology and art, culminating in an etching process that merges analog with digital.
The process begins with analog craftsmanship—human hands—followed by AI’s image generation, which is then reinterpreted through human senses. This journey demonstrates that even an image created by AI can serve as the starting point of artistic creation. The etching process carries the symbolic weight of leaving behind the final trace of human artistry. Through these interactions, I explore how such combinations can generate new visual experiences, challenging us to reconsider the evolving relationship between technology, creativity, and human expression.
