At Munmu Daewangneung (Series)
DESCRIPTION
The rocks rising above the sea off the coast of Gyeongju are known as the tomb of King Munmu, the 30th king of the Silla Kingdom in the 7th century. These rocks are called Munmu Daewangneung. A cultural heritage research team once investigated the area below the rocks but could not find any bones or remains. However, many Korean shamans consider this place a spiritual site and visit it. They mainly perform shamanic rituals and prayers in tents rented from restaurants near the beach. Korean shamanism is known to have originated from a culture formed around Lake Baikal in Russia. People gathered to pray from the morning. What is beyond this world? Where do the voices of those praying reach?
