Creating a work of art means forming a narrative, meaningful shape out of chaos. Paradoxically, however, this process cannot be consciously controlled. If you try anyway, the work does not come to life. The working process of my nude photography corresponds to this and adds something to it. I prepare myself and devise a precise picture story for a particular woman, but the willfulness of the Polaroid SX-70, the unpredictability of the lighting conditions in the open air and the spontaneous ideas of the woman dismantle the plan. From the fragments of my failed plan, I form a new story that always surprises me; I never expected it.
The photograph was shot one early morning in a backyard in Berlin-Moabit.
My work also includes analog photographs without nudes, which I combine with lyrical miniatures. The nudes, on the other hand, always remain without text. Because there is usually nothing to add to the human body.
My aim is always to show states of mind.
