Joaquim (Single)
DESCRIPTION
A teenager from the Humbi ethnic group living near the Cunene River in southern Angola, participates in a renowned coming-of-age ritual. This ceremony marks a boy’s transition to adulthood. The veil, as in many traditions, plays with the concept of visibility, symbolizing what is seen and what is hidden. Adorned with a veil and necklaces, Joaquim is now recognized as ready to seek a wife, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Humbi people.
AUTHOR
I spend a lot of my time traveling, and my cameras are always with me. Traveling with analog gear is an experience digital simply can’t offer. There’s something about film that keeps me hooked—its tactile nature and unpredictability make each shot more exciting. People often find analog cameras less intimidating; sometimes they even see them as toys. This leads to spontaneous interactions and random situations that I really love.
