Concept
I don't just want to take beautiful photos, I want to give people a message with my pictures and make them think.
It was also important for us to bring the issue of disability to the fore. To show the power of people with disabilities and to question what people call "normal".
I think a photo calendar where the roles of people with and without disabilities are reversed will express exactly what I want to express.
AUTHOR
Hi, my name is Michael Ferreira, but my friends usually call me Mika. Since childhood onwards I have a passion for photo- and videography, unfortunately I displaced that passion because of my handicap. In 2018 though, I told myself to stop ignoring that burning desire and made some research. After weeks of doing research, I finally found a way to manipulate my camera, only using my right thumb, enabling me to pursue my passion. From that moment on I started taking many photos, from landscapes to portraits. Now I can go after my passion, taking unique pictures of unique people and places.
