During years I suffered bullying and contempt towards my way of being, disabling me to express everything I felt. It was a long period of ten years in which
I felt self-conscious and distanced from social life. Self-portrait photography
was an escape route to rebel against those who tried to clip my wings.
The first photograph represents the initial stage of my childhood and adolescence, when loneliness and the opinion of others took hold of me. The spiders represent those fears that surround us and crawl up our skin, taking over our courage and making us feel inferior and weak.
But we must not forget that we can face those spiders and, although we cannot defeat them, we can learn to live in spite of them and even manage to control them. In the second photograph I wanted to represent a totally different position from the first one; an extroverted and courageous attitude, a stronger and braver human being who no longer hides, but wants to show herself as she is.
So this is my personal chrysalis. The complete transformation of body and soul in the face of past obstacles.
