Diamond Beach was one of the most exhilarating locations to photograph in Iceland. We returned three times, drawn by the ever-changing interplay of ice, water, and light. Shooting here was as challenging as it was rewarding—placing my tripod in the wet sand, bracing against waves, and timing each shot to capture the movement of the sea. Despite wearing wellies, both my gear and feet got soaked, but the thrill made it all worth it.
This series captures the dynamic energy of the beach, where translucent ice chunks rest on black sand, framed by the rhythmic tide. Using longer shutter speeds, I emphasized the waves as they swirled around the ice, creating intricate patterns. The golden hues of sunset cast a warm glow on the frozen forms, making them shimmer like gemstones.
Each image was processed in Lightroom and Photoshop, blending exposures to balance light on the ice and detail in the waves. The result is a series that highlights both the delicate beauty and raw power of this unique landscape.
